HELENA PAUL Jazz / Soul / R&B Singer and song-writer Helena Paul has a warm vocal quality and an amazing three and a half octave range. Specializing in jazz and blues, although also at home with reggae and soul, Helena's sparkling personality radiates to her audience, who often feel totally connected to her music and voice. Helena has performed all over Europe, leading Big Swing Bands, gospel church choirs, intimate quartets and trios with her great control, time and audience awareness. She is regularly asked to perform exclusive private parties at prestigious venues, including the Puente Romano and Marbella Club in Marbella, and venues in London and Frankfurt. Jo's Jazz / Soul I have been singing gospel since the age of 18 and was one of the original members of The London Community Gospel Choir. During my time with LCGC I toured Europe doing gospel concerts, studio recordings and was a part of the resident choir in the TV Rock Gospel Show hosted by Cliff Richards and Sheena Walsh. On moving to Spain in 2000, I joined the Fuengirola Gospel Choir and sang with them at weddings, charity functions and in several Casa de Culturas on the coast for 3 years until the founder of the choir moved back to Sweden. I also helped to form the Calahonda Baptist Choir which has also appeared at many charity functions on the coast and is well known for its annual Christmas Carol Service. In 2004 I was approached by Mariza a Classical Singer to arrange the gospel backing vocals to her classical negro spiritual songs. Along with two other vocalists I performed with Mariza & The Free Spirit Band at Tivoli World in May and September 2004. As a result of this concert the three singers were approached by Carlos Llorente a well known pianist on the coast who was the lead keyboard player for the concerts at Tivoli. Carlos invited us to sing gospel with him at weddings. The group now known as Voces de Gospel was formed and has been performing at weddings along the coast for the last four years and was featured in the TV show Songs of Praise in June 2008. Being a great lover of Jazz and having built a repertoire of Jazz songs by artists such as Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, and love songs by song writers such as Burt Bacharach, Hal David and Carol King, I am seeking work in restaurants, hotels and private functions and would also love to continue to sing at weddings. I have sung at various venues such as El Campanario Golf & Country House, El Paraiso Country Club, The Polo House, Vista Del Mar Restaurant and do a regular Friday night slot at Season's Resort in Estepona.
